Application: 1968–1972 Camaro with TH-350 Transmission
Tools & Supplies Needed:
- 3/8" drive ratchet
- Correct size socket/wrench for transmission pan bolts (usually 13mm or 1/2")
- Torque wrench (recommended)
- Clean shop rags
Step-by-Step Instructions:
1: Prepare the Vehicle
Park the car on a level surface.
Safely raise and support the vehicle with jack stands.
Ensure the transmission is cool to avoid burns.
2: Locate the Mounting Area
On the driver’s side of the TH-350 transmission, locate the two pan bolts near the shift lever arm.
These factory bolt holes are used to secure the bracket.
3: Remove Transmission Pan Bolts
Carefully remove the two identified bolts.
Only remove the bolts required for the bracket—do not loosen other pan bolts unnecessarily to prevent fluid leaks.
4: Position the Bracket (TRA-24)
Align the holes in the bracket with the pan bolt holes.
The flat mounting surface of the bracket should sit flush against the transmission case, with the cable loop/tab positioned toward the shifter linkage.
5: Install the Bracket
Reinstall the transmission pan bolts through the bracket and into the transmission case.
Hand-tighten both bolts first to ensure proper alignment.
Once aligned, snug the bolts with a ratchet.
6: Torque Bolts (Recommended)
Tighten the transmission pan bolts to 12–13 ft-lbs.
Do not overtighten, as this can distort the pan gasket and cause leaks.
7: Install Shifter Cable
Slide the shifter cable end into the bracket slot.
Secure with the factory style retaining clip (not included with bracket).
Ensure the cable routes smoothly from the shifter to the transmission lever without binding.
8: Final Check
Verify the cable moves freely when the shifter is operated.
Double-check bracket alignment and bolt torque.
Lower the vehicle and test gear engagement before driving.
